Position Summary
This position is employed by the Office of Statewide Prosecution.
Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of work experience in financial investigations or in conducting investigations of criminal activities; OR
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting, finance, economics, criminal justice, or in business administration, and three (3) years of work experience in financial investigations or in conducting investigations of criminal activities; OR
- Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) certificate and two (2) years of work experience in financial investigations;
- College education can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required experience up to a maximum of two years of the required work experience.
Preference may be given to applicants with criminal financial analysis experience.
The Work You Will Do
- Assist prosecutors in developing and implementing investigative plans in white collar crime cases.
- Under direct supervision of the prosecutor, coordinate multi‑agency law enforcement investigations and prepare consolidated prospective summary of entire investigation.
- Under direct supervision of the prosecutor, interview witnesses and conduct follow up investigation, where necessary.
- Assist in organizing and analyzing complex financial data through use of computer programs.
- Conduct financial investigations, including tracing proceeds of illegal activities.
- Gather corporate records, regulatory and licensing records, and criminal intelligence and conviction records of individuals and entities under investigation.
- Assist attorneys and law enforcement officers in preparation of documents, exhibits, schedules, summaries and other pertinent information for presentation at trial.
- Responsible for victim/witness coordination in certain criminal proceedings.
- Assist prosecutor in presentation of evidence and testimony of witnesses in court.
- Computer analytical abilities required, including familiarity with WordPerfect, Lotus 1, 2, 3, Excel, WORD, Access, and any other programs that may be required to carry out the mission of the office.
- Supervise fugitive recovery efforts.
