Cost Accountant - Manufacturing

We are seeking a hands-on, proactive, and problem-solving individual to join our team as a Manufacturing Accountant. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, eager to learn, collaborative, and possess a strong work ethic. This role covers four main areas: cost accounting, general ledger, payroll support, and accounts receivable/accounts payable support.

Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate analysis and reporting of inventory values, job costs, and costs of goods sold, with breakdowns among materials, subcontract, labor, and overhead costs.
• Analyze critical cost components such as shop expenses, freight, timecard data, and scrap costs, and generate reports as needed.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve and maintain transactional integrity.
• Lead and conduct physical inventory counts and periodic test counts.
• Report on fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Reconcile bank accounts and manage month-end journal entries and amortization schedules.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis and prepare audit schedules.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and alternate bi-weekly payroll functions with Human Resources.
• Prepare and analyze daily balance sheet reports and manage weekly accounts payable check run worksheets.
• Prepare California sales/use tax forms and 1099 forms.

Essential Skills:

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Cost Accounting Standards.
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products, with Access being a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred, but not required.
• 2+ years of experience in Cost Accounting.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.

This position is based onsite in Long Beach.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, California.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $38.00/hr.
