Hospital Cook

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Hospital Cook to join our Nutrition Services team. This role is essential in providing high-quality, nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors in accordance with dietary guidelines and food safety standards. The ideal candidate is passionate about cooking, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands the importance of food in patient recovery and wellness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food storage areas.
• Slice and dice food for preparation.
• Stock food and maintain inventory.
• Assist with menu planning and contribute ideas for improving food quality and variety.
• Support catering for hospital events and special functions when required.
• Deliver a high level of customer service.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 12 years of cooking experience in a healthcare, institutional, or commercial kitchen setting.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety regulations.
• Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, and dietary guidelines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.75 - $18.50/hr.
