Controls Specialist

As a Controls Specialist, you will work both independently and collaboratively to support capital projects and implement solutions. Your expertise will help improve performance and achieve key goals by coordinating operations, managing commissioning activities, and providing critical updates.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate operations technicians' work schedules and manpower forecasts.
• Manage and track commissioning constraints and deficiencies related to the schedule or quality of Basebuild utility systems post-construction.
• Integrate construction and design schedules with commissioning activities.
• Provide reports and updates on schedule and quality metrics.
• Conduct system and facility engineering job walk assessments.
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause failure analysis on assigned projects.
• Train suppliers in commissioning software systems.
• Manage supplier access to commissioning software systems.
• Interface smoothly with engineering design team members and client representatives.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years' experience in commissioning or construction for I&C or Electrical Basebuild systems in the Advanced Technology sector.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation, PLC5, and Control Logix hardware and software.
• Experience with multi-discipline large capital projects involving Owners, General Contractors, Contractors, and System Integrators.
• Good understanding of Design/Build (Engineering and Construction).
• Understanding of complex process systems architecture and design, Instrumentation, Device Selection, Networking, PLC and I/O architectures, P&IDs, data sheets, and SCADA.
• Working knowledge of environments common in large industrial applications such as Dry/Wet Mechanical, AWN, Gas/Chem Distribution, HVAC, and Clean Room environmental control.
• Proficient with written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting group presentations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
• Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or control systems engineering or a related field is required. Direct experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or similar environment.
• Proficiency in control systems programming and configuration.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with various control system platforms such as BMS or SCADA is a plus.
• Experience conducting I/O checkouts.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.

Job Type & Location

This is a contract position based out of New Carlisle, Indiana. Working 40-45 hours per week and can offer per diem for candidates over 50 miles from site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
