Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM TUESDAYS 8AM-12PM - weekend rotation Saturday OR Sunday 8AM-12PM every 5-6 weeks

Full-time + benefits - 36 hours/week

$5,000 sign on bonus offered to external or newly licensed candidates!

Responsibilities

Join Our Caring Pediatrics Team!

Are you passionate about working with kids and families? Want to make a meaningful impact every day? Join our Methodist Pediatric Clinic in Des Moines , where our tight-knit team supports children from birth through adolescence—and the families who love them.

We’re looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) who thrives in a fast-paced, child-focused environment . If you’re upbeat, flexible, and have a heart for pediatric care, we’d love to meet you.

A Typical Day Might Include:

n

• Rooming pediatric patients and making them feel at ease (bonus points for sticker skills!)

n

• Taking vitals, updating health histories, and recording developmental milestones

n

• Assisting providers with well-child checks, immunizations, and minor procedures

n

• Administering vaccines based on the immunization schedule (training provided if needed)

n

• Preparing exam rooms with clean supplies, toys, and a calm environment

n

• Reassuring nervous kids and supporting concerned parents

n

• Calling families with lab results, instructions, or follow-up reminders

n

• Helping with referrals, paperwork, and coordination with schools or specialists

n

Qualifications

What You’ll Need:

n

• Valid and current licensure/certification in the state of Iowa as one of the following:

  n
  n

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program (required) - Certification: Current CMA credential from one of the following:

    n
    n

    • AAMA – American Association of Medical Assistants

    n

    • NCCT – National Center for Competency Testing

    n

    • NHA – National Healthcareer Association

    n

    • AMT – American Medical Technologists

    n
  n
n

n

• Experience: Prior experience in pediatrics or primary care preferred—but if you love kids and learn quickly, we’ll train you!

n

• Skills & Traits:

  n
  n

  • Patience, empathy, and a kid-friendly attitude

  n

  • Comfort with EMR systems (we use (Epic) )

  n

  • Ability to multitask and stay calm when things get busy

  n

  • Strong communication with both children and their caregivers

  n
