Carlyle is looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology practice. Are you passionate about building and pioneering cloud solutions? Do you enjoy solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative delivery environment? In this exciting role, you will partner closely with technical teams, product owners, and other business stakeholders to design, build, and maintain solutions on our cloud platforms.
As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the architecture, implementation, and operations of our Cloud environments, ensuring our cloud infrastructure is optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability. You will directly manage a dedicated Cloud Operations team and oversee partnerships with our service providers. Your responsibilities will include automating cloud operations, managing cloud infrastructure across AWS (primary) and Azure (secondary), and ensuring security and compliance in line with established standards and best practices.
You will be instrumental throughout the lifecycle of our cloud services – from designing robust cloud architectures and networking strategies to implementing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated management and deployment. You will utilize tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, and AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, and Lambda to build and maintain scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant environments supporting our global enterprise operations.
Additionally, you will proactively monitor cloud infrastructure health, analyze performance metrics, and implement strategies for cost optimization. Collaborating closely with development teams, you will provide infrastructure support for software applications and participate in strategic initiatives such as disaster recovery and business continuity planning. You will also have significant opportunities to innovate, influence the selection of new technologies, tools, and methodologies, and drive strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Cloud Operations team responsible for configuration, monitoring, management, and optimization of our cloud environments.
- Review, modernize, and optimize operational processes, focusing specifically on cloud operations, automation, and development practices to leverage emerging technologies and methodologies.
- Collaborate with development teams, enterprise architects, infrastructure, networking, and security teams to develop robust, secure, and scalable cloud architectures, and clearly define functional requirements for AWS environments.
- Partner in the design, development, and implementation of advanced cloud-based capabilities and technologies including AI & machine learning, containers, serverless computing, and orchestration/automation solutions.
- Provide expert technical guidance on complex issues, technology selection, solution architecture, deployment strategies, and ongoing maintenance of cloud environments.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior IT leadership.
- Solve complex operational and architectural problems through innovative, sustainable solutions.
- Advocate and evangelize the adoption of cloud-focused technologies and processes, highlighting their value to both business and technical audiences.
