Planning Team members have an in-depth understanding of demand and supply planning, scenario planning, clinical trial protocol design and how to apply different techniques for supply chain optimization while maintaining patient centricity. We engage with various stakeholders such as Technical Development Teams (TDTs) and Clinical Operations to align supply chain activities with project milestones and are accountable for the reliable continuous supply of IMP from first-patient-in through completion of the clinical trial in line with international standards and regulatory requirements. On top, we are leading matrix teams to ensure smooth setup and management of our supplies. Our team is globally oriented and provides a uniform service level for all customers of Clinical Supply.

The Opportunity

As a Clinical Network Planner you will be responsible for the oversight of the aggregate Drug Substance, Drug Product, and/or Finished Good demand and supply plans (initial & resupply) within the mid to long term horizon (months 3 up to 36) across the overall network. You will partner with Molecule/Study Planner and Long Range Planner to ensure alignment between mid & long term plans. Your previous clinical supply chain expertise, combined with an in-depth understanding of systems and processes as well as state-of-the art knowledge of data science methodologies provide a sound basis to drive decision making across all clinical assets and influencing of our stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

• You consolidate, manage and analyze network wide demand, supply and capacity scenario analysis across the different clinical technologies, drive necessary trade-off evaluation for production at a portfolio level within a site and network level with appropriate stakeholders
• Assess feasibility of plan by managing high priority demand requirements and workflow. Communicate and escalate plan and risks as appropriate through the CD&OP process. Own escalations and drive solutions at the appropriate organizational level.
• Evaluate capabilities of current clinical supply chain assets to ensure alignment with future customer and Pharma portfolio requirements.
• Partner with key stakeholders across Clinical Supply to ensure the effectiveness of CD&OP processes. Manage sourcing processes to determine strategic decisions and guidance regarding internal manufacturing versus outsourcing to contract manufacturing organizations: drive strategic sourcing assessments and key decisions to Clinical Demand & Operations Planning (CD&OP), key stakeholders, and senior management
• Review performance metrics to drive improvement via CD&OP process in partnership with Clinical Supply Planning leadership (i.e. stock-outs, order change requests, inventory, and forecast). Lead cross-functional process improvement teams as appropriate to coordinate with SMEs within the organization to generate KPIs and metrics, maintain and improve performance metrics and process.

Who you are

You bring the experience of 10 yrs+ Supply Chain, with the majority in the pharmaceutical industry. A minimum of 3 yrs in Clinical Supply Chain complement your profile. You have detailed knowledge of Clinical Development with exposure to Technical Development Team(s) as well as senior management. You have an in-depth knowledge of Clinical Supply Chain Planning, a deep understanding of supply chain concepts, familiarity with planning principles and methodologies such as forecasting and inventory planning. You bring a solid understanding of drug development processes, clinical trial design, drug technical development, drug demand forecasting and supply planning techniques. In addition:

• You are an independent self-starter, with ability to lead ad hoc teams, perform work without supervision and show good judgment in determining objectives and approaches to assignments with excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills, including ability to simplify what is complex and focus audience on key messages and experience in communicating with senior management
• You have strong analytical, logic and problem solving skills, with advanced ERP system experience (strong preference SAP/4S HANA and OMP) as well as strong skills in applying data science methodologies and applied data analytics
• You have a proven collaborative and agile mindset actively looking to make contributions to cross-functional teams and to develop self-directed team organization. Confident stakeholder management and customer focus generating actions driven by internal/external customer needs and earning respect from customers. Ability to positively influence key decision-makers
• You have an academic degree or equivalent diploma, preferably in supply chain management or life sciences. Given the driven nature of the environment, further education in Digital and AI strategy, e.g. Masters Degree in AI would be a strong plus

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $139,300 - $258,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
