Agency Summary: Applewood Centers is a private, nonprofit agency providing mental health services, social services and education to children, adolescents and families living in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Dedicated to addressing a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems, we provide a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment. Multisystemic Therapy, an ecological, evidence based programs directed at youth and their families, uses the collaboration of community based resources such as caseworkers, probation/parole officers, and school professionals. Community-Based therapists and clinicians concentrate on empowering parents and improving their effectiveness by identifying strengths and developing natural support systems and removing barriers. As a Therapist on our team, you will be responsible for providing in-home assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention and advocacy to adolescents and families. You will also be responsible for maintaining fidelity to the MST model and coordinating with all members of the treatment team to achieve targeted outcomes. - Provide MST services to a small caseload of youth and families in community settings, including clients' homes, schools and neighborhoods.
- Actively work to ensure client and community safety through the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing revision of a comprehensive individualized safety plan for each client/family served.
- Engage primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
- Actively provide family therapy, parent training, cognitive behavioral therapy, skills building, school and other community system interventions, and clarification work to each client/family served.
- Conduct MST assessment including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context.
- Actively participate in weekly group supervision and weekly phone consultation; participate in individual supervision as directed/requested.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with MST Principles and the MST Analytic Process.
- Bachelor's Level or higher professional with the major field of study being social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or other human services field. New graduates welcome!
- LSW, LPC or MFT, and prior experience in the delivery of mental health services in the home/community to children and families with complex needs is essential
- This position requires flexibility of schedule and ability to travel in response to the needs of families.
- Bachelor's level licensed mental health treatment experience with children and their families or experience working with children and families as part of a master's degree internship program.
