Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Canton - Potsdam Hospital

Hours Per Week: 37.5 scheduled hours

Schedule: 7.5-hour shifts, variable

SUMMARY: Join our dedicated medical team as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, where you will play a vital role in conducting clinical laboratory analyses and examinations of blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues. You will employ a variety of instruments and methods to deliver test results within established turnaround times to support physician diagnosis and treatment. Your expertise in complex problem-solving will be key in addressing clinical and instrument challenges. Upholding all regulatory lab requirements is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform laboratory testing accurately and promptly.

• Interpret and correlate test results with patient history and clinical condition to guide appropriate actions.

• Communicate urgent lab results and any instrument issues to medical staff without delay.

• Conduct quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab instruments.

• Prepare reagents and manage laboratory inventory effectively, with a focus on cost containment.

• Maintain proficiency in relevant computer functions to facilitate testing and workflow management.

• Assist in teaching within the School of Medical Technology and during lab rotations.

• Consistently adhere to all regulatory laboratory standards.

• Take on additional duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma

• Licensed or provisionally permitted as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Department of Education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related Science

• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires medium work, including exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly. Frequent walking, standing, and squatting are also necessary.

PAY RANGE:

$33.75 - $45.00

The stated pay range reflects the potential base pay for a successful full-time candidate and may be adjusted in the future. Pay consideration includes experience, relevant qualifications, internal equity, location, and contractual agreements.
