Chief Building Engineer Supervisor (Water Treatment)

Overview

As a CBRE Industrial Wastewater Treatment Supervisor, you will supervise, plan, direct, and oversee the activities and operation of the industrial wastewater treatment, deionized water and irrigation systems.

What You'll Do

• Operate and maintain Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) equipment.
• Manage irrigation permit responsibilities, including proper installation, operation, and maintenance of the irrigation system.
• Control onsite piping to prevent cross-connections with potable water supplies.
• Inspect and maintain backflow prevention devices to protect potable water supplies, in accordance with CCR Title 17 section 7605.
• Ensure compliance with the site Reclaim Water Irrigation Permit and implement BMPs to prevent hazards to public health and the environment.
• Collaborate with EHS to manage/update the Keysight Technologies Irrigation Management Plan (IMP).
• Ensure adherence to the Keysight Technologies Reclaimed Water Operations and Management Plan.
• Operate and maintain the process wastewater treatment system; monitor and adjust operations as needed.
• Maintain documented operational procedures and safe work practices; train staff.
• Check daily samples for operational indicator parameters and respond to out-of-spec conditions; report to EHS as required.
• Investigate and implement corrective measures for injuries or out-of-spec conditions.
• Manage the WTP’s operational accounts and assist in developing operating and capital budgets.
• Assist with operations and maintenance issues, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
• Recommend and implement improvements for preventive maintenance programs; maintain WTP-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.
• Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians.
• Oversee all WTP systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and controls.
• Maintain ongoing communication with tenants, clients, owners, facility management, and vendors.
• Assist in solicitation and acquisition of new management contracts as appropriate.
• Coordinate development and maintenance of as-built drawings.
• Respond to emergency situations quickly (fire, evacuation, equipment failure) and address customer concerns.
• Respond to regulatory reporting requirements and requests from local authorities and clients.
• Implement and administer inventory control programs; purchase parts and supplies.
• Establish and monitor programs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, requisitions, government directives, and company policies relevant to WTP operations.
• Maintain and execute Safety and Regulatory programs, including standard operating procedures, training, and incident reviews.
• Lead the response team during alarms and upset conditions, including 24/7 readiness and leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, schedules, and task assignments. Set and track deadlines, mentor and coach staff, and provide formal supervision and performance reviews. Manage staffing levels, including overtime, and support promotion decisions. Lead by example and promote the company values.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of four years’ experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Industrial wastewater and inorganic chemistry knowledge required.
• Metal processing / waste stream experience required.
• Supervisory experience desired.
• Respirator program qualification required for various chemical handling operations.
• Ability to obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification.

Certificates and/or Licenses

Additional certification in three or more of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, HVAC/Exhaust/Scrubber, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, plumbing. Certifications/licenses as required by local or state jurisdictions.

Other Skills And/or Abilities

• Advanced math skills and ability to perform chemistry-related calculations.
• Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing, and frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate an EMS and CMMS system.
• Experience in staffing, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.
• Ability to convey performance expectations and handle problems in complex communications.
• Leadership skills to motivate the team and impact quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of applicable practices, laws, project controls, and environmental regulations, including safety requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and make decisions.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the position is $115,000 annually and the maximum salary is $130,000 annually. This role provides benefits including 401(K), Dental, Health, Life, and Vision insurance.
