Certified Inpatient Pharmacy Technician II - Supply Chain

The Certified Pharmacy Technician in Supply Chain Distribution plays a key role in the accurate and efficient preparation, packaging, and distribution of pharmaceuticals within a centralized pharmacy warehouse environment. This position involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining accurate inventory, and facilitating the safe and timely delivery of medications to healthcare facilities.

As part of our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, you will receive up to $5000 in commitment incentives over a two-year period, disbursed after six months, one year, and two years of continuous employment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Select, label, and package medications accurately for distribution to hospitals and affiliated clinics.
2. Ensure compliance in the storage, handling, and shipping of medications according to company policies.
3. Verify and stock incoming pharmaceutical products and supplies efficiently.
4. Conduct routine inventory counts, monitor stock levels, and assist with expiration date management.
5. Maintain precise records of all drug movements and inventory transactions using applicable software.
6. Prepare orders for shipment with attention to accuracy, proper packaging, and labeling.
7. Assist in repackaging non-sterile medications (oral, topical, etc.).
8. Keep the warehouse work areas clean and organized.
9. Collaborate effectively with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and pharmacy leadership to ensure smooth workflow and high service standards.
10. Respond to inquiries from customers, healthcare providers, and internal departments with professionalism.
11. Help train new employees in job-specific functions.
12. Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to optimizing processes.
13. Participate in audits and uphold compliance with regulatory standards.

Other Information:

Education Requirements: Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred, but not required as long as position qualifications are met.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is also required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.

Professional Experience Requirements:

• Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is essential.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical storage and shipping requirements, including cold chain management.
• Experience with automated dispensing and packaging systems is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy is a must.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods (most of an 8-hour shift).
• Physical capability to lift at least 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Ability to reach overhead to access shelved products.
