Position Overview

The AVP of Finance & Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving strategic financial planning. This leader will manage a high-performing team and collaborate cross-functionally to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the finance and accounting functions, including general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Oversee statutory and GAAP financial reporting for P&C insurance operations.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, state insurance departments).
Manage internal controls and support external audits.
Partner with actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams to analyze financial performance and trends.
Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives across finance operations.
Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
8+ years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the P&C insurance industry.
Deep understanding of insurance accounting principles, statutory reporting, and regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday).
