Aviation Pavement Engineer

Aviation Civil Engineer

Kimley-Horn's Orlando, Florida (FL) office is seeking an Aviation Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the Pavement Engineering team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the development of pavement management programs (PMPs) and capital improvement programs (CIPs) for public agencies, commercial airports, state and local aviation agencies, and private clients.
2. Solve complex problems, assist project managers, establish and maintain effective working relationships with subconsultants, and collaborate across disciplines to support infrastructure development.
3. Leverage data collection technologies to support the development of PMPs and CIPs.
4. Travel to project locations nationwide to perform pavement condition evaluations.
5. Support the pre-construction design, planning, modification, and analysis of airfield and roadway pavement projects.
6. Utilize technical software programs to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables, including AutoCAD, Excel, GIS, FAARFIELD, PAVER, and others.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of aviation engineering design experience
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
• Familiarity with contract document preparation and cost estimating
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
• Ability and willingness to travel for site visits as required (approximately 25% of time)
• Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve problems
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic

• Exposure to AutoCAD, GIS, PAVER, FAARFIELD, and other pavement analysis programs
• Knowledge of various pavement evaluation methodologies such as ASTM D5340/D6433/E3303, LTPP, MTC, OCTA, and PASER
