The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. Support Launch Vehicle Processing of the Artemis Launch Vehicles at Kennedy Space Center. This support includes flight hardware assembly operations, testing and validations of flight and ground systems. Working in a team environment, candidate will work to detailed instructions and schematics to perform work in all aspects of flight hardware. Technician will be participating in training requirements to obtain all necessary certifications to perform assembly work. This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience or equivalent technical training. Must be able to follow work instructions, interpret engineer drawings and follow stringent work area rules and safety protocols. Excellent communication skills required. Must demonstrate moderate level of proficiency in mechanical or electrical technical operations. Experience in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be able to pass SCAPE physical, maintain a security clearance, and work weekends and off-shifts, as required. • Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
• Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
• Must be able to work in tight confined space areas.

Work Environment

• All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
• Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
• Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
• Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

Attendance

• Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule

Other Essential Functions

• If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
• Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.
• Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives.
• Government security clearance may be required in the future.
• Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with endorsements Florida driver's license.
• Must pass a federal background investigation.
• Must comply with all "drug free workplace" requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
