Job Description Summary

You will be responsible for delivering critical medical interventions and ensuring the well-being of patients in emergency situations. Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to Emergency Calls:
a. Acknowledge requests within two minutes of receiving a call.
b. Adhere to emergency driving laws and protocols.
c. Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding arrival times and status updates.
d. Park according to local regulations for emergency vehicles. - Accurate Documentation:
a. Complete run reports accurately and legibly.
b. Input data into computerized databases with precision.
c. Maintain vehicle and equipment checklists on every shift.
d. Record patient interactions and document refusals as necessary. - Equipment Readiness:
a. Familiarize yourself with the location and usage of all equipment.
b. Restock supplies within 30 minutes after a run.
c. Ensure the vehicle remains clean and properly fueled. - Provide Medical Care:
a. Conduct thorough patient assessments.
b. Follow established treatment protocols and medical directives.
c. Employ advanced life support skills effectively. - Support in Emergency Department:
a. Perform designated tasks under physician supervision.
b. Assist with procedures like EKGs and IV insertions. - Lead Emergency Response Teams:
a. Control emergency scenes effectively.
b. Guide EMTs and medical staff on-site to ensure optimal patient care. - Maintain Equipment and Vehicles:
a. Handle all equipment with care to prevent damage.
b. Ensure that all vehicles are locked when unattended. - Professional Development:
a. Keep certifications up to date and participate in training opportunities.
b. Share knowledge with colleagues and attend staff meetings regularly. - Community Engagement:
a. Represent the organization positively in public settings.
b. Participate in community events to improve EMS awareness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of the Community Paramedic class and practical experience in pre-hospital care. Critical care and ALS transfer experience are preferred. A valid driver's license and verification of a good driving record are mandatory.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
EMT-P Certification, ACLS, BLS, and a VDL. A Massachusetts driver's license is preferred.
Required Skills:
Ability to engage in Emergency Response Training within six months of employment. Preferred classes include PALS and NRP.
