Overview

A well-established organization in Kansas City is seeking an experienced Accounting Lead to oversee a small team of operational accounting professionals. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounts payable and accounts receivable, and a passion for improving processes and leading with integrity. The position is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to transition to a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a small team handling AP and AR functions
• Maintain payroll records for hourly personnel
• Coordinate unemployment compensation claims with third-party administrators
• Complete employment verifications and ensure timely responses
• Prepare and validate payroll and accounting reports
• Test and evaluate system updates to ensure accuracy in payroll and accounting functions
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
• Stay informed on changing government regulations related to payroll and accounting

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in accounting, with some leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong understanding of operational accounting processes (AP, AR, payroll)
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to lead a team and work independently
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
