About this opportunity: The Vice President, Pharmacy, Value Based Care is an executive leader responsible for the strategic, clinical, operational, and financial oversight of all pharmacy services within Sutter Health's value-based care population (this includes, but is not limited to, Sutter Health Plan, Sutter Select). This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant pharmaceutical care across diverse payer groups including full-insured and self-funded Commercial employers, Medicare Advantage. The role is crucial in ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient pharmacy program management while aligning insurance pharmacy initiatives with broader Sutter Health's pharmacy goals.

Job Description:

Education:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college or university is required.
• Advanced degree in business, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field (e.g., MBA, MHA) is preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in pharmacy operations within a health plan, hospital system, or integrated delivery network.
• Proven track record of managing pharmacy programs in value-based, population health, or managed care environments.

Knowledge:

• Deep understanding of pharmaceutical care within managed care, including benefit design, utilization management, formulary management, and PBM relationships.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting pharmacy and health plan operations.
• Familiarity with value-based payment models, chronic care strategies, and interdisciplinary care integration.

Skills:

• Strategic planning and execution in complex healthcare settings.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building capabilities.
• Advanced communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Financial and operational acumen, including cost containment and risk mitigation.
• Proficiency in data interpretation, pharmacy analytics, and decision-making based on clinical and business intelligence.

The primary office location of this position will be in Sacramento, CA or Emeryville, CA, with travel throughout the Sutter Health footprint.

Pay Range is $163.46 to $221.15 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
