Veterinary Assistant Opportunity

VCA Aurora Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology Service!

Compensation: Pay range is $19 - $23/hr based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and other relevant credentials.

Location: 2600 West Galena Blvd. Aurora, IL 60506

Schedule: Full-time opportunity, 4 x 10 hour weekday shifts.

Position Overview: As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you'll be an essential part of our specialized team, working closely with our Surgeon to deliver outstanding care to patients with complex neurological conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Examinations and diagnostic procedures such as radiographs.
• Complete pre-operative anesthesia planning.
• Provide pre-operative patient assessments, IVC, administer medications as directed, intubation, and assist in post-operative recovery and care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, anesthesia protocols, and patient vitals.
• Client education and communication.
• Perform or be trained in safe practice of locoregional anesthesia technique, arterial catheterization, and CPCR.
• Collaborate effectively with all departments to ensure seamless patient care.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of clinical experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
