Vessel Welder

We are seeking skilled vessel welders to join our team. You will be responsible for welding on storage tanks, spheres, and water towers ranging from 23ft to 43ft. This role requires proficiency in stick and flux core welding techniques, as you will be working on vessels and components for tanks. The primary materials are carbon steel up to 3 inches thick, and all welds are 100% x-ray verified. Knowledge of back gouging is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on storage tanks, spheres, and water towers.
• Utilize stick and flux core welding techniques effectively.
• Conduct welding operations on carbon steel up to 3 inches thick.
• Perform back gouging as necessary for 100% x-ray welds.
• Operate an overhead crane to assist in welding tasks.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience as a vessel welder.
• Ability to pass 2G and 3G weld tests and perform back gouging.
• Proficiency in flux core and stick welding.
• Experience in welding vessel components.
• Capability to operate an overhead crane.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in fitting is a plus.
• Recent success in passing 2G, 3G tests with stick and flux core.
• Experience fabricating storage tanks, vessels, and towers.
• Ability to read blueprints and isometric drawings.
• Experience in pipe fitting or willingness to learn.
• Capability to perform own layouts and fit-ups.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large, non-climate-controlled shop with significant heavy equipment, emphasizing a high priority on safety. The position involves rotating shifts starting with a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed. After six months, you will transition to a night shift from 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m. Monday through Friday, and receive a shift differential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.50/hr.
