Job Summary

Assists the Supervisor with the daily operations of the vascular laboratory and training staff as needed. Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field of vascular disease and new procedures, as they evolve.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
• Coordinates work schedule with Supervisor/Director and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage.
• Responsible for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while in the technologist/sonographers care.
• Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical training required in Vascular Technology or Diagnostic Ultrasound. Bachelor's degree preferred in Vascular Technology or Diagnostic Ultrasound.
• ARDMS- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required, and certification required: Basic Life Support certification, Registered vascular Tech- RVT or Registered Vascular Specialist- RVS.
• 1-2 years related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Age based Competencies: Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -. Physical Nature of the Job: Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing and/or moving.
