Vascular (Vein/Lymphatic) Advanced Practitioner Role Scope   

The Vascular Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner practices in an outpatient ambulatory setting running parallel with an attending surgeon as well as running their own independent sessions. The advance practice provider will have a high level of autonomy managing vascular patients with venous disease, edema and lymphedema. They will be expected to maintain flexibility during busy office sessions. The AP will need to be able to recognize scenarios which would require escalation of care. 

The AP will manage a patient panel for venous/lymphatic disease including pre-procedure, post procedure, follow up patients, as well as new consultants. Patient conditions include, but are not limited to varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, edema, lymphedema, vein injections/sclerotherapy. Additional responsibilities include following up on imaging, assisting with triage of new patients/emergency work ins, assisting nursing with clinical questions and concerns, wound checks, staple removal, and general vascular patient care. Practice locations include Glastonbury, Norwich, Mystic).

Qualifications

Advanced Practitioner Qualifications  

·Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program

·2 years of experience preferred

·Licensed as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut

·Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), or Physician Assistant (PA)

·Vascular, venous, arterial, cardiac, or ambulatory experience is highly preferred
