Job Overview
American Rooter is seeking a dependable and experienced Utility / Excavation Laborer to support high-quality water and sewer line repair and replacement projects. This hands-on field position involves trenching, cutting, backfilling, and ensuring compliance with all municipal plumbing codes. You'll work closely with the excavation crew to complete efficient, code-compliant repairs, safely and professionally, in a high-volume service environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform trenching, excavation, and backfilling to access and repair water and sewer service lines
• Make clean street, driveway, and yard cuts with minimal disruption
• Complete full-service line repairs and replacements in compliance with plumbing code
• Safely work around gas mains, water mains, and electrical lines
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment efficiently and safely
• Communicate with plumbing inspectors and ensure jobs pass inspection
• Complete at least two service repairs per day while maintaining safety and quality
• Assist in site restoration and final clean-up
• Use mobile apps to document job notes and upload clear project photos
• Follow jobsite safety protocols and ensure compliance across the team
• Collaborate with internal teams via Microsoft Teams and other job systems

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in water/sewer line repairs
• Knowledge of plumbing codes and inspection requirements
• Skilled in trenching, cutting, and backfilling in various terrains
• Comfortable working in all weather and performing physical tasks
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe jobsite practices
• Clean, valid driver's license (CDL is a plus but not required)
• Professional demeanor and ability to work well with a team
• Reliable, punctual, and tech-savvy enough to document work digitally
