Northern Nevada Health System is a regional multi-facility system that has excelled at offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. The System operates two acute care hospitals, Northern Nevada Medical Center and Sierra Medical Center, in addition to Northwest Specialty Hospital and freestanding emergency departments. In addition, NNHS has a robust outpatient services division offering family medicine, urgent care, and specialty care focused on cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, and wound care.

The facility features nine treatment rooms, including fast-track exam rooms designed to efficiently triage low severity patients. Also offered are advanced imaging services including CT and X-ray and lab draws. The FED delivery of care model is designed to produce shorter wait times for patients who do not require robust services offered at a full-service hospital. Similar to a hospital emergency department, the FED treats a variety of emergency medical needs including heart attack, stroke, trauma conditions, lacerations, acute pain and other life-threatening conditions. If a patient requires a higher level of care, NNMC partners with local EMS providers to transport patients to an appropriate regional hospital.

In alignment with providing the highest quality emergency care, we staff our FED's with board-certified emergency medicine physicians, ER-trained nurses and techs. When a patient experiences a life-threatening emergency, we want to instill confidence that they have access to 24/7 medical services in their neighborhood.

This Ultrasound Float opportunity is full time, offers full benefits and a convenient dayshift schedule. This position is also responsible for patient safety protocols, maintaining all federal, state, local and regulatory agency requirements. This role performs both vascular, general ultrasound and intervention procedures under ultrasound guidance. Participates in CQI activities.

Job Duties:

• Receiving, relaying and documenting verbal, written and electronic orders in the patients medical record.
• Corroborating patients clinical history with procedure, ensuing information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner prior to patient arrival.
• Applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
• Evaluating images for technical quality getting all necessary images to ensure the radiologist gets the information needed ensuring proper identification is recorded.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but not required.
• One year of imaging experience.
• Prefer specific experience and training in Ultrasound.
• Registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
• Current BLS certification.
• Willing to take call/standby in Ultrasound department and for NNMC as needed.
