About The Position
Job Title: Sonographer Profession: Sonographer Specialty: Ultrasound Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable shifts including days and nights Hours per Shift: 8 or 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital setting License: Required Certifications: BLS, Registered in ARDMS in a specialty Must-Have: Experience with appendix studies, OB experience preferred for first trimesters and anatomy scans, and peds: abdomen and retro studies. Description: Department: Radiology - Ultrasound. General certification requirements include BLS and registration in ARDMS in some specialty areas like abdomen and OB. The department has 2 machines serving inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. Common types of imaging and studies performed include general ultrasound, abdominal, OB, thyroid, scrotums, appendix procedures, para thoracentesis, and joint aspirations. Vascular studies are separate and echo experience is not required. The average number of scans/studies performed per day is between 25 to 33 within a 24-hour period. The electronic medical record system used is Epic, and the PACS system is McKesson. Radiology supervisor or lead tech is available during the day. Radiologists are present at other sites if needed. IV starts are not required for this department. Variable shifts are scheduled, which could include days or nights. The manager is responsible for creating the schedule to meet department needs and seeks full flexibility from staff. Weekend shifts are included in the scheduling requirements. Holiday shifts may be required. There are no call or standby requirements unless on a holiday call. Scrubs are provided by the hospital, or staff may wear their own in any color. Department-specific orientation is provided to ensure staff can jump right in. The team is flexible and willing to work with staff if additional support is necessary. The client may cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment. Charting is done using the Epic system. BSN is not required.
