About The Position
Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Neuro OR Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Evenings Hours per Shift: 11A-11:30P, Monday to Friday, no call Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Not Required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS and CNOR preferred Must-Have: Neurosurgery experience Description: The position requires neurosurgery experience. Experience in ENT and Plastics is a bonus. Cases include craniotomies, tumor resections, motor mapping (awake and asleep), endoscopic endonasal, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm clipping, cavernous malformations, acoustic neuroma, AV malformations, shunts, generator placement, laminectomies, microdiscectomies, ALIF, TLIF, PLIF, ACDF, XLIF, and spinal cord tumor resection. The unit has 12 surgical suites and performs 400-450 cases per month, averaging 20-25 per day. Members of the team include approximately 70% RNs and 30% CSTs. The charting system used is Cerner. Weekend requirements do not apply for the 11A shift. Employees will work into a holiday rotation. Scrub color is provided. RT and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Floating may be required for those with a general surgery background. Floor specific orientation lasts one week in the operating room. Common diagnoses and types of patients include cranial procedures, tumors, carotids, spine fusion, lumbar procedures, scoliosis, shunts, brain biopsies, deep brain stimulation, and tumor ablation. The cancellation policy allows for the hospital to cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment or three shifts for shorter assignments.
