Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and orthopedic experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 18:45-07:15
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios are 1:5-6
• Requires floating within service line, including to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Unit admits medical/surgical and telemetry patients, including orthopedic cases such as totals and fractures
• Must wear navy scrubs
• EPIC is the charting system used and experience is required
• Will provide care for medical/surgical and telemetry patients with a strong focus on orthopedic cases
• Magnet hospital environment
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital's service line for support as needed
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract
• No requested time off during first week of assignment
• Permanent former employees must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Facial hair must allow for fit testing, or must be shaved

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand at time of consideration
• 2 years of recent RN experience in Med/Surg Tele with orthopedic cases required
• BCLS certification required; NIH Stroke Scale preferred
• Heavy lifting required
• Experience with orthopedic totals and fracture care required
• References from supervisors within the last two years preferred
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius to be eligible
• First-time travelers are welcome
