PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step-Down Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

• Duration: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,570 - $1,680
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• EMR: Meditech

PCU RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), step-down, or acute care setting
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Strong communication, clinical, and teamwork skills

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to PCU/step-down patients (nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4)
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including Registered Nurses and Patient Care Technicians
• Document patient care and progress accurately in Meditech EMR
• Educate patients and families on care plans, health management, and recovery
• Promote a positive, team-oriented clinical environment
