Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele-Oncology position on night shifts, requiring at least 2 years of experience and a MD or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work on the Med/Surg Tele-Oncology unit of a hospital setting
• Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00–7:30), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Care for med/surg, telemetry, and oncology patient populations
• Patient ratio is 1:5-6
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
• No on-call responsibility
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Primary responsibilities include caring for a diverse med/surg, telemetry, and oncology patient population
• Travelers are the first to float and must be comfortable floating within scope
• Training modules are required prior to start
• Return travelers must have been away from the health system for at least 6 months; former staff must have been gone for 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Extension generally allowed for one contract before requiring a six-month break
• No block scheduling or scheduling restrictions can be requested
• RTO requests must be submitted at initial consideration and may not exceed 7 days; if more than 4 consecutive days, an additional week will be added to the contract
• Scrub and dress code details will be communicated upon assignment

Requirements

• Active MD or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg tele-oncology nursing experience required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS and ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification preferred
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must provide two satisfactory professional references from most recent employers (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN)
• Permanent residence must be over 50 miles from the hospital
