Position: Cardiac Renal Unit Stepdown RN

Shift: DAYS & NIGHTS AVAILABLE
Location: Evansville, IN (No local candidates — 40-mile radius rule)

Contract Details

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: 11/3 or 11/17 (bi-weekly orientation)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

Weekend & Holiday Rotation

Weekends: 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
Holidays: Every other holiday

Certifications (Must Be Attached at Submission)

Active Compact RN License
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Experience Requirements

Minimum:
- 3 years strong Cardiac/Tele experience
- 2 completed travel assignments
- Trauma Level II experience
Charting: Recent EPIC experience required (checkoff class required)

Patient Population & Skills

Patient Types:
- High acuity Tele/Med-Surg, Cardiac heavy
- Afib with RVR, Afib, flutter, heart blocks
- Heart cath recovery (non-intervention)
- CHF, COPD, sepsis, BH/CIWA, post ablations, dialysis
Required Skills:
- Telemetry & 12-lead EKG interpretation (travelers must pass Tele tests)
- Initiate/titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, heparin, etc.)
- PIV insertion
- Chest tube / indwelling drain management
- CBI, stable drips (heparin, lasix, protonix)
- Anti-dysrhythmic medication administration (cardizem, Tikosyn, amiodarone)
- Nephrostomy tube care
- Strong assessment & critical thinking

Unit Details

Beds: 32
Ratios:
- Days: 1:4–5
- Nights: 1:5–7
- Charge Nurse: Rarely takes patients on days; assignment on NOC shift
