**Job Description: Progressive Care Unit Nurse (PCU RN)**

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role is vital in providing high-quality patient care to individuals experiencing acute medical conditions that require close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Provide direct patient care in a PCU setting, ensuring the health and safety of patients with a variety of medical conditions.
- Monitor patient vitals, administer medication, and manage drips including insulin and cardiac medications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient care plans.
- Perform advanced assessments and interventions such as starting IVs, EKGs, and post-cardiac catheterization care.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and standards of care.

**Qualifications:**

- Active nursing license and BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (NIHSS before start date).
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in Progressive Care or Telemetry nursing is required.
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Mandatory EPIC documentation experience from the past two years.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing patient conditions.

**Shifts and Schedule:**

- Full-time, 12-hour Night shifts.
- Every other weekend and holiday commitment required.
- Flexibility to float to appropriate units as needed.

**Patient Population:**

The PCU cares for adult patients with diagnoses including but not limited to Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure, respiratory distress requiring Bipap/CPAP, patients on cardiac drips, those undergoing recovery post-PTCA/stent procedures, and patients requiring close observation for various medical issues.

**Equipment and Support:**

- Utilize telemetry monitoring systems and other advanced medical equipment.
- Access to 24/7 respiratory therapy support.
- Transport protocols and procedures for patient transfers are in place.

**Work Environment:**

- Fast-paced, collaborative team atmosphere within an established healthcare facility committed to patient care.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1, ensuring quality, individualized patient care.
