Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with orthopedic and post-op experience for day shifts in a busy hospital environment requiring a WA or compact RN license and BLS.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 42-bed Med/Surg and Ortho unit within a community hospital setting
• Patient population includes general medical, post-operative, orthopedic, and trauma cases such as joint replacements, back surgeries, and fractures
• Day shift nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-5
• 12-hour day shifts (7:00 am - 7:30 pm)
• Includes weekend rotation every other weekend
• Float to other Med/Surg units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• Telemetry monitoring is remote only and RNs are not required to interpret strips
• No on-call requirements
• Scheduling provided four weeks in advance
• Typical responsibilities include managing wound vacs, JP/Hemovacs, administering and titrating drips per standard protocols, and supporting post-surgical recovery
• Supported by CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT, wound care, RT, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage
• Orientation includes hospital orientation and 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
• Expected to work 1-2 holidays per contract
• Allowed up to 7 days of approved time off per contract
• Scrub color is flexible; any color is acceptable
• Free onsite parking is available
• First-time travelers will be considered if all experience requirements are met

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license
• Current BLS certification
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience is required
• At least 2 years of experience required for consideration as a first-time traveler
• Orthopedic and post-op patient care experience required, including experience with total joints and back surgeries
• Experience using Epic EMR preferred
