Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Wheeling, WV 26003 (West Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Acute Care – 4th Floor Medical-Surgical Unit
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel RN contract (Start: 10/17/2025 – End: 1/16/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715), including weekends and holidays
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1820-$1950
• Patient Ratio: 1:6-7
• EMR System: Allscripts - Sunrise
• Scrub Color: Navy blue top & bottom, navy scrub jackets (no hoodies)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (open to candidates awaiting West Virginia RN licensure)
• Minimum 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis highly preferred
• Ability to work every other weekend and scheduled holidays
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license with application
• All licensing issues must be disclosed at time of submission

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse medical and post-operative needs, including orthopedic, neurological, and general surgery cases
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and document care in the EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including hospitalists, intensivists, CNAs, and support staff
• Float as needed to other medical-surgical or med/surg oncology units
• Participate in the care of patients requiring hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
• Follow infection control protocols and assist with COVID-19 patient care as needed
• Engage in unit orientation and ongoing professional development
