Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license (New York nursing jobs)
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care in the Med/Surg unit
• Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Provide direct clinical support, monitor patient progress, and adjust care plans as needed
• Develop specialized skills in cardiac care and telemetry monitoring
• Educate patients and families on self-care, lifestyle changes, and post-discharge instructions
• Promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment
• Advocate for patient safety, rights, and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Document care delivery, patient education, and patient responses accurately
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain required clinical competencies
