Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Carbondale, Illinois (zip 62901) – Southern Illinois healthcare jobs
• Unit: 4 Medical – 25-bed unit (11 private, 7 semi-private rooms)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing – Registered Nurse jobs
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36 hours guaranteed
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
• Patient Ratio: 5-6:1 (nights)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,780 - $1,910

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Illinois nursing license required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Stroke certification preferred
• Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Strong clinical skills in post-operative care, wound care, and acute medical condition management
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients including stroke, post-operative, hospice, and comfort care
• Manage patients with heparin drips, feeding tubes, chest tubes, drains, and dialysis
• Perform wound care, monitor altered mental status, and manage CIWA patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold high standards of patient safety
• Adapt to a dynamic clinical environment and support patients with compassion and professionalism
