Role: RN – Family Birthing Center / LDRP

• Shift: 12-hour Nights, every other weekend, first to float
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Facility & Unit Details

• Unit Type: Family Birthing Center / LDRP
• Beds:
  • 2 OBED
  • 7 LDRP
  • 4–8 overflow postpartum beds
  • 1 OR suite for C-sections
  • NICU: 2 beds (for stabilization only; preterm <35 weeks transferred out)
• Birth Volume: ~70–80 per month
• Antepartum Testing: ~60–70 NSTs per month
• Ratios
  • Labor: 1:2
  • Delivery: 1:1
  • Mother/Baby couplets: 1:4

Requirements & Skills

• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced AWHONN EFM
• Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year LDRP (3+ years preferred)
  • Will consider L&D-only RNs if they have OR circulating experience
  • Postpartum-only experience not accepted
• Must be Comfortable With:
  • Attending deliveries without in-house pediatrics (NRP at delivery)
  • Titrating Pitocin (occasional insulin)
  • Circulating in the OR
• ‘Catch the Baby’ Requirement: Please confirm before submission if candidate is trained/able

Staffing & Support

• Charge Nurse: On every shift; may take assignment if needed
• OB/Neonatologist: OB in-house 24/7; perinatal specialist available; neonatologist on-call
• Anesthesia:
  • On-call with 20 min response if no active patients
  • In-house for entirety of shift if epidural placed
• Respiratory Therapy: RT attends all deliveries; manages ventilators, CPAP, bubble CPAP
• Support Staff: 1 OB Tech per shift; no CNAs
• Monitoring: GE fetal monitors (Fetalink); no tele/monitor techs

Scheduling & Policies

• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Fri/Sat nights)
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s); holiday RTO considered but not guaranteed
• Floating: May float to other Sacramento facilities
• Scheduling: Released 4 weeks in advance
• Call/Standby: May be placed on-call; 30-min response required
