Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring high-acuity L&D experience, EPIC proficiency, and a WA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Labor & Delivery unit within a Birth Center in a hospital setting
• 34 L&D beds including labor rooms, antepartum, OB ED, and OR, plus 18 postpartum beds
• High-acuity patient population including hypertension, preterm labor, C-sections, and multiple births
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines including 1:1 for active labor
• Work a 12-hour night shift schedule with variable weekend rotation and fair holiday coverage expectations
• Floating may occur within antepartum and postpartum units depending on experience, except for ANM positions
• Utilizes EPIC for charting, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance, and additional specialized equipment
• Approximately 300 deliveries occur monthly
• On-call shifts are not mandatory; may pick up open shifts as needed
• Responsible for full recovery care of both birthing patient and newborn following delivery
• Orientation includes hospital and unit training with preceptorship, plus scheduled online testing prior to start
• Comprehensive team support with CNA, Scrub Tech, Receptionist, Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy, Resource RN, and RT
• Laborist, residents, fellows, and additional providers are present for support
• Scrub uniforms are provided and must not be worn outside the facility
• Free badge-access parking available in designated areas
• RTO must be requested before contract approval; incidental days off coordinated with management
• First-time travelers considered upon review

Requirements

• Active RN license for WA or compact state required
• Current BLS, NRP, and Intermediate FHM (AWHONN) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years recent L&D experience required, previous travel experience preferred, 5+ years strongly preferred
• High acuity L&D experience including triage, OR circulation, and fetal monitoring interpretation required
• Prior EPIC EMR experience required
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation exam must be completed online prior to arrival
