Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for the University of Washington Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA. This high-acuity obstetrical unit includes L&D, triage, postpartum, and C-section OR coverage, supported by a Level III NICU, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and Neonatology. The facility averages 3,600 deliveries annually and is designated Baby Friendly and Washington State Breastfeeding Friendly Gold certified.

Responsibilities

Provide care to patients in active labor, postpartum, and with high-risk conditions such as gestational hypertension and GDM
Circulate in the OR for C-Sections
Manage titratable drips including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Insulin
Perform triage assessments and charge nurse duties as needed
Float to postpartum unit when required
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including OB/GYNs, Family Practice providers, CNMs, Neonatologists, Anesthesia, LPNs, and surgical techs
Utilize Obix EFM system and Epic for documentation
Ensure compliance with hospital and AWHONN staffing standards

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of recent hospital L&D experience, including triage and charge nurse responsibilities
Experience circulating in OR required
Must have Epic experience within the last 2 years
Certifications: NRP, BLS, ACLS (ACLS required beginning Jan 2023)
Must live 50+ miles from facility (locals not accepted)
No license hits related to medication diversion or endangerment (immediate cancellation if discovered)

Important Notes

Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7:00–7:30), weekend requirement, holiday requirement
Floating: Required to postpartum as needed
Call/Standby: Not required for travel RNs
Scrubs: Navy blue; jackets and scrubs provided for L&D nurses
Location Perks: Close to Seattle, Pacific Ocean, Cascade Mountains, Canada, and Washington wine country
