Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with a DC license, strong trauma skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes urgent care, psychiatric, pediatric, critical care, and trauma patients
• Responsible for trauma room coverage and bedside trauma RN duties
• Typical patient ratio is 1:5
• Performs advanced critical care procedures including medication titrations, arterial lines, mass transfusions, and chest tubes
• Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience required
• 12-hour day shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Six-month contract options available
• ED nurses coordinate and deliver care for complex, high-acuity patients
• Develop and utilize advanced critical care skills in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
• Must be able to start within two weeks of offer
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the last twelve months preferred
• Proof of SSN and valid driver's license required
• COVID and Flu vaccination required
• No local candidates within 25 miles are eligible
• BSN is highly desired

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department experience
• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved nursing program
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS (AHA only)
• Experience as a bedside trauma RN required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• CPI certification mandated by position
• Must live at least 25 miles from the facility
• Two years of prior US hospital experience in specialty required
