ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed RN – Contract
Facility: Critical Access Hospital
Unit: ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed (25 beds)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hr Nights (6:45p–7:15a)
Schedule: 36 hrs/wk, every other weekend + rotating holidays, first to float
Guaranteed Hours: 36/wk

Requirements

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Licensure: Active RN license required at submission
• Experience: 2+ years acute care (travel not required)
• Skills: Dementia/stroke care, geriatric nursing, wound/skin care, titrating drips, trauma ER initial care

Unit / Department Details

• Beds: 25
• Ratios: 1:8 (team nursing)
• Common Patients: Dementia, dependent adults, diabetes, post-acute rehab/surgery, chronic illness exacerbations, wounds, COVID, trauma patients in ER
• Drips: Electrolytes, antihypertensives, IV antibiotics, blood transfusions
• Charge RN: Team-based assignment (not patient-free)
• Support: CNA each shift
• Monitoring: RNs read/interpret their own strips (no monitor techs)
• RT: Patient-managed CPAP only
• Charting: Epic EMR
• Orientation: 3 shifts
• Scrubs: Provided, no color requirement

Additional Info

• Floating: ER / MedSurg support as needed
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Alternating / every other holiday
• Call: None
• Radius Rule: Must live >50 miles away

• RTO: Max 7 days per 13-week contract; must be declared upfront
