ER RN Job Details

Location: Pikeville, KY 41501 (Eastern Kentucky healthcare jobs)
Assignment Type: Travel Nursing – Emergency Room

End Date: February 14, 2026
Duration: 13-week contract
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (8-hour night shifts, 48 hours/week)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week

ER Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kentucky or compact state)
Associate’s degree in nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Minimum 2 years of recent emergency room (ER) nursing experience required; 5 years preferred
Prior travel nursing experience in emergency department settings required
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, EKG

ER Nurse Responsibilities

Assess and monitor patients of all ages in both emergent and non-emergent situations
Deliver airway and pain management, cardiac and invasive monitoring, and IV drips/titration
Assist with specialized emergency procedures (temporary pacemakers, cardioversion, defibrillation, chest tubes, wound repair)
Respond to Code Blue situations and operate specialized emergency care equipment
Administer medications, perform ECG analysis, and provide discharge education to patients
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure patient confidentiality
Supervise and delegate tasks to other healthcare staff and clinical support personnel
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and serve as a preceptor for new ER nurses
Ensure proper functioning of emergency room equipment and maintain adequate supplies
Follow infection control, safety, and personnel policies in compliance with healthcare standards
