Job Description:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, medication administration, direct and delegated care, supervision of LPNs and ER Technicians, and coordination with EMS and first responders. The ER RN serves as a patient advocate, provides health education, and may act as house supervisor during assigned shifts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop appropriate care plans.
• Administer medications and blood products, delegate tasks as appropriate.
• Provide trauma care and respond to emergencies across all age groups.
• Supervise LPNs and ER Technicians to ensure quality care delivery.
• Triage and prioritize patients based on acuity; monitor for changes.
• Serve as liaison with EMS, ambulance, and first responders using 2-way radio.
• Act as house supervisor on weekends, holidays, or night shifts as needed.
• Conduct post-visit patient call-backs and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
• Ensure professional development through ongoing education and competency testing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; current Illinois RN license (or temp work permit).
• CPR certification required.
• ACLS and PALS required for ER; TNS and TNCC preferred.
• Clinical experience preferred.
