Shift: 3x12-Hour Days (07:00 - 19:30)
Hours per Week: 36
On-Call: Required (7p-7a weekdays, rotated)
Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Daily Surgical Cases: 17-30
Operating Rooms: 8
Charting System: Epic EMR
Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960

CVOR Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR nursing experience
Travel nursing experience required
Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA preferred)
Proficient with Epic charting system
Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular surgical procedures: CABG, TAVR, MAZE, mitral valve replacement, atrial septal defect repair
Knowledge of fire safety, cell saver, blood product administration, infection control, laser/radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol, wound management
Ability to participate in rotating on-call shifts
Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

CVOR Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver expert perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgical patients
Assist in advanced heart procedures including CABG, TAVR, MAZE, mitral valve replacement, and more
Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards
Administer blood and blood products as needed
Ensure accurate specimen handling and labeling
Participate in universal protocol (time out) procedures
Collaborate with interdisciplinary surgical teams for optimal patient outcomes
Document all care and procedures accurately in Epic EMR
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergent cases
