CVICU Registered Nurse – Night Shift (Contract)

Location: Salem, OR

Schedule: 3x12-Hour Nights (19:00–07:30) 

Duration: 13 Weeks 

Employment Type: Contract (36 or 48 hours/week options)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate CVICU Registered Nurse to join our high-performing cardiovascular care team. This role involves consistent floating across CVCU, ICU, and PCU divisions, providing critical care to a diverse cardiac patient population. The ideal candidate brings strong telemetry skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for excellence in cardiovascular nursing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized nursing care to patients with complex cardiac conditions, including post-cardiac arrest, heart failure, and post-surgical recovery
• Monitor and manage patients undergoing advanced procedures such as IABP therapy, Impella insertion, PCI, pacemaker placement, and targeted temperature management
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Float between CVICU, CVIMCU, ICU, and PCU units as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold best practices in patient safety and care delivery

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in telemetry and critical care
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS

Preferred Qualifications

• CCRN certification

Unit Overview

The Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU) is a 30-bed blended unit, including:

• 18 beds for cardiovascular intensive care (CVICU)
• 12 beds for intermediate care (CVIMCU)

Patient diagnoses include:

• Heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI, arrhythmias, post-cardiac arrest
• Cardiothoracic surgeries (CABG, valve repair/replacement, thoracotomy)
• Interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures

The CVCU has been nationally recognized as one of the Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals and has earned multiple AACN Beacon Awards for Nursing Excellence. Nurses receive comprehensive training in advanced cardiovascular therapies, including intra-abdominal balloon pump, CRRT, and ventricular assist devices.
