Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring CVICU experience and a valid WI or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital setting
• Care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, heart or lung transplants, and those with various medical devices
• Unit is acuity adaptable, typically with high-acuity cardiac and post-surgical patient population
• Utilizes NextStage CVVH machine and requires basic arrhythmia monitoring
• 12-hour day and night shifts with every other weekend and some holiday requirements
• No on-call required
• Floating is expected, and travelers are the first to float across multiple units or locations as needed
• Work as part of a team focused on cardiothoracic surgery, transplant care, and complex post-operative management
• Comprehensive orientation provided, typically about one week with department-specific schedules
• Strict pass/fail testing is required for the telemetry exam prior to starting
• Holiday and weekend rotation is required
• Travelers may be reassigned to different units or locations if staffing needs change
• First-time travelers are accepted in this unit

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
• Minimum two years of acute care RN experience in CVICU within the last three years
• Experience operating the NextStage CVVH machine required
• Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills required
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with specific pass/fail criteria
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Locals not accepted
