CVICU Nursing Job Details

Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210)
Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Employment Type: Travel Nurse (Locum Tenens)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 11/17/2025 – End: 2/16/2026)
Nursing Shifts: Rotating Day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (3x12-hour shifts)
Weekend Coverage: Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week period; rotating holidays required
Patient Ratios: 1:1–2
Floating: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1940 - $1990

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac ICU or CVICU nursing experience preferred
Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
BLS and ACLS certifications required for all travel nursing jobs
NIHSS certification preferred
EPIC charting experience required
Previous travel nurse experience preferred
Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
Ability to provide two professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leadership)
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

CVICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver expert nursing care to adult patients in the CVICU, including those with advanced cardiovascular and thoracic conditions
Operate and manage advanced equipment: ventilators, Swan Ganz catheters, balloon pumps, PA lines, ECMO, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, CRRT
Perform IV starts, arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal, blood product administration, and wound care
Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, emergency medications, and sedation protocols
Interpret arterial blood gases and manage patients with acute stroke, heart failure, post-cardiac surgery, and other critical diagnoses
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response
Float to other nursing units as needed within the organization
Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation precautions
