Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Wheeling, West Virginia 26003
• Healthcare Setting: Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) – Cardiac Stepdown
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Start Date: October 17, 2025
• End Date: January 16, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shifts: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7a-7p/7p-7a), including weekends as scheduled
• Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Self-Scheduling: Available (based on unit needs)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; open to candidates willing to obtain a West Virginia nursing license
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience in Stepdown, Telemetry, or similar clinical settings
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• Experience with titrating cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin)
• Willingness to float to Telemetry or MedSurg units as needed
• Valid, unexpired driver’s license required at submission

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adults with cardiac and intermediate acuity needs in a 30-bed IMU
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using Allscripts (Sunrise) EMR
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and titrate cardiac drips per provider orders
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy (24/7 support)
• Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Float to Telemetry or MedSurg units as needed, maintaining safe nurse-to-patient ratios
• Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, treatments, and care plans
• Comply with hospital policies, including navy blue scrub requirements
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing professional development
