Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Leonardtown, Maryland (20650) – Maryland healthcare jobs
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care Unit (IMC)
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
• Start Date: November 17, 2025
• End Date: March 9, 2026
• Duration: 16 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:00), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Required (every other weekend, per unit needs)
• Patient Ratio: 1:4-6
• Scrubs: Caribbean blue (not provided)
• Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1590–$1710

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Compact or Maryland RN license – Registered Nurse jobs in Maryland
• Minimum 2 years of recent Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown RN experience
• Previous Charge Nurse experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proven experience with patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Clinical skills: central line care/management, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), PCA infusions, bedside monitoring, non-titratable drips, IV infusions, telemetry, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Two (2) supervisor references required
• Preferred: Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II RN experience

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with cardiac, respiratory, and complex medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, COPD/asthma, sepsis, pneumothorax, ESRD/dialysis, hypertension/hypotension, ETOH withdrawal, post-surgical needs)
• Manage and monitor cardiac drips (non-titratable), PCA infusions, and bedside cardiac monitoring
• Perform and oversee central line and chest tube management
• Interpret dysrhythmias and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in pre/post hemodialysis management
• Support and mentor staff as a charge nurse as needed
• Adhere to infection control and isolation protocols
