Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Job Title: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Location: Athens, Texas 75751
• Healthcare Setting: Med/Surg Floor 2 – Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Assignment Start Date: October 6, 2025
• Assignment End Date: December 1, 2025
• Contract Duration: 8 weeks
• Nursing Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1620-$1660
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Charting System: EPIC (experience required)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, Intermediate Care (IMC), or Telemetry RN experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records (EHR)
• Prior Travel RN experience required
• Strong clinical skills in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, oxygen protocol management, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care, and rapid response activation
• Applicants must not reside in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations
• Monitor and manage cardiac drips (no titration), dysrhythmias, and post-myocardial infarction (MI) patients
• Perform peripheral and central line care, chest tube management, and wound care
• Administer blood products, IV insulin, and oxygen therapies
• Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory therapists and unit secretaries
• Maintain strict isolation precautions and PPE protocols
