Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a Level 2A nursery, requiring recent L&D experience and current SD or compact licensure.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level 2A Nursery within the Labor & Delivery unit
• Cares for L&D, antepartum, postpartum, newborns, infants under 28 days, and some gyn-surgical patients
• Laboring patient ratio is 1:2 and couplets ratio is 1:3-4
• Centralized fetal monitoring is utilized on the unit
• Night shifts, 12 hours, with every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage includes 3 scheduled holidays and 1 on-call holiday per rotation
• Floating may be required to Med/Surg as helping hands or within scope of practice
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Provide primary care for laboring, postpartum, antepartum, and neonatal patients, including sick infants in a Level 2A nursery
• Support from lab staff, respiratory therapists, and a house charge nurse is available
• Opportunity for first-time travelers who have recent L&D experience
• Hospital-provided scrubs are required

• Orientation on facility and unit is based on experience, typically 1 week

Requirements

• Active RN license in South Dakota or compact state is required and must be in hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications are mandatory
• Completion of an approved nursing education program
• Must have skills in EFM interpretation, adult and neonatal assessments
• Must live more than 100 miles from the facility
• Permanent staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
