Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least four years of L&D nursing experience, a compact or AZ license, and proficiency with computer charting.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Unit features 18 LDRPs, 14 OB triage beds, and 8 antepartum beds with an average of 8-10 deliveries per day
• Two fully equipped ORs for C-section procedures
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines when possible: typically 2:1, antepartum 4:1, and C-section 1:1
• Nurses may be required to float to Mother/Baby/Postpartum or to a sister facility as needed
• Night shifts available (1900-0700) with four weekend shifts per schedule
• Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Link for electronic fetal monitoring
• No required on-call or standby, but voluntary shifts are available
• Nurse will titrate Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate per protocol
• First day includes a pass/fail simulation lab and skill check, with study materials provided in advance
• Patients include laboring and preterm women, with gestations as early as 28 weeks
• All travelers must confidently circulate and recover C-sections
• Blue scrubs are required
• OB hospitalist, anesthesia, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy are available in-house 24/7
• A permanent residence of at least 50 miles from the facility is required for AZ residents
• Holiday coverage is appreciated

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum four years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• Must have experience with C-sections and circulating/recovering surgical cases
• Experience with computer charting, preferably Cerner, required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to offer with a minimum score of 80%
• Must provide two professional references—one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last three years
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates cannot have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year
